We recently went out and joined local community wardens out on patrol in Peckham Rye Park, discovering first-hand the issues they face. Since the Lib Dems introduced Community Wardens, they’ve been a great success.
Local people are concerned about dogs being kept properly under control in the park, and also making sure they’re cleaned up after. We are calling on dog-owners to be responsible so that everyone can enjoy our open spaces. I happy to say that while we were out we didn’t see any problem dog owners, and the people we spoke with were very supportive of the work the wardens do.
People have also reported to us the problem of nuisance dogs in Camberwell New Cemetery. It’s crucial that dogs are kept under control in what needs to be a peaceful and respectful place.
If you are aware of a nuisance dog, you can report it to the Peckham Rye Community Warden team, who will discuss any issues with the owner. You can email them at nunhead&peckhamryewardens@southwark.gov.uk or call them on 0207 639 8175. Alternatively contact us using the ‘Report a Problem’ link on the left of the page, and we’ll get in touch with them on your behalf.
